Where are the best sunsets in Ibiza?

Updated: Feb 14

Ibiza isn’t just about world-class DJs and legendary nightlife (as I'm always trying to make a point)—it’s also home to some of the most spectacular sunsets you’ll ever witness (and they're free of charge). Whether you're sipping a cocktail at a lively beach bar or soaking in the moment from a hidden cove, the island offers endless opportunities to watch the sky explode into shades of orange, pink, and purple.

Here’s my take of the best five sunsets in Ibiza:

Nr 5: Sunset Strip, San Antonio

If you’re looking for a classic Ibiza sunset experience, Sunset Strip in San Antonio is the place to be. Home to iconic venues like Café del Mar and Café Mambo, this popular strip is where music meets magic (also lots of people). Grab a front-row "sea seat", order a cocktail (or bring your own), and let the legendary sunset DJs set the mood as the sun sinks into the Mediterranean horizon. Expect an energetic crowd (during peak season) and an electrifying atmosphere that makes every sunset feel like a celebration (we clap as the sun goes down).

Nr 4: Cala Benirrás

For a more spiritual and bohemian vibe, head to Cala Benirrás. Known for its legendary drumming sessions (Sundays are the most popular time to visit, but you never know when they'll surprise you), this bay on Ibiza’s northern coast is a magnet for free spirits and nature lovers. As the sun sets, people are dancing to the rhythmic beats of bongo drums, making this sunset spot an unforgettable experience.

Nr 3: Cala Tarida

If you've been following Ibiza in Prints for a while now, you should know Cala Tarida is in my top five beaches in Ibiza.

What is Cala Tarida like?A dreamlike setting with soft white sand, turquoise waters, and stunning cliffs framing the view. This west-coast beach is perfect for every type of traveller (families, couples, solo traveller) seeking postcard-worthy sunset shots after spending the whole day at the beach. Cala Tarida never fails to deliver a vibrant spectrum of pinks, purples, and fiery reds. You also have some great restaurant options with sunset views here, from breakfast to dinner.

Nr 2: Cala Escondida

Tucked away near the famous Cala Comte, Cala Escondida is a hidden gem that offers an intimate and breathtaking sunset experience. The golden-hour views here are second to none, with the sun melting into the sea, casting golden reflections on the water. The Cala Escondida Chiringuito, made entirely of natural materials (they dismantle everything at the end of the season and bring it back in summer), serves organic drinks and snacks, adding to the untouched and laid-back charm of the place. It’s the perfect spot for those looking to escape the crowds and enjoy a more tranquil, magical sunset.

Nr 1: Es Vedra, Cala d'Hort

No sunset in Ibiza compares to the magical beauty of Es Vedrà. Overlooking the dramatic limestone rock that rises from the sea like a mythical fortress, Cala d’Hort offers the most awe-inspiring sunset on the island. The energy here is almost spiritual, with many believing Es Vedrà to be one of the most magnetic spots on Earth. Whether you watch from the beach, a nearby clifftop, or a private boat, witnessing the sun disappear behind this legendary rock formation is an experience that will stay with you forever.

Side note: Es Vedra sunset seen from Mirador is now extremely popular, would definetly recommend to find an alternative to that. I prefer going down to the beach (far right or left) for a better sunset experience. Not to mention, your car might get damaged or robbed these days 😢

And that is my take on best sunsets in Ibiza. Everyone should experience a sunset in Ibiza, at least once in their lifetime. Ibiza offers a mix of vibrant, spiritual, and tranquil spots to watch the sky transform. No matter where you choose to watch, one thing is certain- the sunsets in Ibiza will make you come back time and time again. At least for me.

Until next time,

Ana x
